Why Tax The Rich?
Tax the rich just a little and life
goes on as usual. Tax the rich so much that they can’t
see and government begins to shrink in size.
But don’t the rich already pay most
of the taxes?
Yes, they do but they also benefit
most from big government. If the wealthy are taxed at a
high enough rate, it is no longer profitable for them to
use the government as a means to an end.
How is that so?
If it is really true that money is
power, then it stands to reason that the rich have
the wherewithal to shrink government if big government
is a burden to them.
So are you saying the rich actually
benefit more from
big government than do the poor?
Yes, here is an example:
When a restaurant worker pays
taxes, he just gets only the basics from the government. When
a well paid person like a medical doctor pays taxes he
gets much more. The government actively promotes health
care. As a matter of fact the government guarantees a
market for many medical services.
Why are you picking on doctors?
Their situation is just easy to use
an example.
What about rich conservative radio
talk show hosts?
They get the FCC to protect their
airways.
But, doctors and talk show hosts
are small potatoes in terms of being rich using
government. The richest of the rich that actually
influence the way government spends, get the majority of
the good from government.
In comparison, poor working people get almost
nothing for their tax dollars.
The way to reduce the size of
government is to tax heavily the super wealthy who get
the most benefit from government spending.
When the cost of
government is higher than the benefits they receive,
the rich will use their power and influence to reduce
government’s size.
