What is the cause of the unrestrained growth of government?

If citizens fail to realize the cause of the growth of government, spending will continue to expand literally without bounds.

It is the wealthiest Americans who benefit most from the growth of government.
Those with the money and power to make government small have no incentive to do so. This is counter to the conservative culture so it is a hard point to get across. When I was growing up in South Texas, the mission of the Democratic party as I understood it was to keep government small because if it got large, the rich would take control of government and use it to further enrich themselves at the expense of everyone else. The late free market economist Milton Friedman expressed these exact sentiments in his classic "Free To Choose" documentary.
 

The wealthy elite are highly intelligent and have the power and money to convince congress to pass laws and make policies that benefit them financially. The result has been an emerging, unofficial system of socialism for the rich. Socialism for the rich is the root cause of the unrestrained growth of government and a highly distorted income distribution within the country.  Please visit the Facebook group:
